Valerie Wood, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with extensive experience in the treatment of eating problems and addiction. I have been active in the recovery community since 1983, and am currently the Senior Clinician at a residential short-term treatment center for addiction, as well as an adjunct faculty member at Bergen Community College and at Thomas Edison State College.
My work on the psychological recovery of eating problems has been published in The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Focus Newsletter, and in Bariatrics Today magazine. I have appeared as guest expert on eating problems on cable television and radio talk shows and have been active in community outreach services, including speaking tours at local high schools.
I am the Bergen and Passaic unit Chair for National Association of Social Workers, hold a seat on the Board of Directors and have been a member in good standing since 1993, The Association for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, The Obesity Society, and The Eating Disorder Association of New Jersey. I earned my Master’s in Social Work at Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service and have a private practice in Allendale New Jersey.
