Truth!
It was not a message I personalized from his book but something he said in a personal conversation we had a couple of days ago. He was right and said it’s something he calls the ‘hypocrisy principle’ – very relevant as it addresses truth, willingness to accept my humanness, and practice what I preach.
Thom looked at a blog I wrote about fear, he is well known for his writings on fear and how to face it (I’m not going to characterize his work here as he might call me another name – ha ha)…Thom read my blog post and in a conversation he and I were having he made a suggestion – inspiring, helpful and very relevant. My reaction? Oh no Thom, I can’t do that, I’m not capable. SLAM – yes slammed right into the wall of limitations.
I thought about what he said, owned my transgression and reversed my thinking, on that he said I came through with flying colors.
Sometimes the message comes to us from another person and we need to digest it, reflect and own it if it’s ours. I welcome constructive criticism, it helps me to change, to look at myself and constantly improve.
The message here for you?
Don’t be afraid to self-examine and admit when you’re wrong. Strive to improve, grow and be the person you were meant to be – flaws and all. Be vigilant about striving to the principles and let the feedback from the universe direct and inspire you to change.
